Philosophy & What Sets Them Apart
AWADACHI merges traditional Japanese techniques with unique ingredients to create its beverages.[1]
What They Make
AWADACHI's current shop lineup consists of two beverages: 'Somewhat Serious But With a Foolish Charm' and 'Meeting Again for the First Time'.[2]
Techniques & Ingredients
AWADACHI builds its beverages by merging traditional Japanese techniques with unique ingredients. Its blends draw on Japanese teas, foraged and preserved botanicals, and savory seasoning elements alongside fruit and verjus bases.[1]
Japanese teas. Roasted and pan-fired green teas recur as base elements in the range. Meeting Again for the First Time appears in versions built on Kamairicha (a pan-fired green tea) and on hōjicha (a roasted green tea).
Kakishibu. Kakishibu — fermented persimmon tannin — features in Meeting Again for the First Time across both of its documented ingredient builds.
Fruit & botanical bases. Meeting Again for the First Time draws on fruit and botanical components. Named ingredients across its versions include:
- Meeting Again for the First Time — Croncels apple, Iyokan, sweet grass, bee pollen and bee bread
- Meeting Again for the First Time — mulberry, plum, liquorice and beet molasses
Taste & Serving
AWADACHI's website describes Meeting Again for the First Time in two profiles: one fresh, smooth and balanced with fragrance, creamy undertones and a crisp, grassy finish; and one deep, brooding and complex, with layers of earthy, smoky and chocolate notes, a hint of resinous spice and a refined savoury edge.
Meeting Again for the First Time is associated with moods of a fancy dinner, a crowd pleaser, cutting through fat, and cold-day comfort.
