King of Green MASA Super Premium is a green tea (sencha / Tenryu tea) made from the Yabukita cultivar, grown in the tea garden of master Masataka Ota in Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.[1] King of Green MASA Super Premium has been released in at least two series: Series 4 Vol. 3 and Series 5 Vol. 4.[1] Masataka Ota, the tea master behind King of Green MASA Super Premium, is a recipient of the Yellow Ribbon Medal (黄綬褒章) and has dedicated over half a century to making Hamamatsu Tenryu tea the world's finest green tea.[1]

Key Techniques
King of Green MASA Super Premium is cultivated using the natural training (自然仕立) method and harvested by hand-picking (一芯二葉), with new shoots picked only once per year.[2] The cultivation of King of Green MASA Super Premium focuses on soil preparation using organic fertilizers, mountain grasses, deep tillage, and homemade fully-matured compost, with harvesting done by around 200–300 local community members.[1] King of Green MASA Super Premium is produced by Masataka Ota and the Tenryu Tea Research group, with cultivation managed by three generations of the Ota family (Masataka, Katsunori, and Misaki).[2]
Tasting Notes
King of Green MASA Super Premium tea gardens are located in a mountainous area where morning mist creates high fragrance, and large temperature differences between day and night produce a rich, concentrated flavor.[2]
