Production Philosophy
NIROKU is a Japanese black tea presented as a bottled tea, made from 'Izumi' tea leaves. Its extraction is designed to maximize the sweetness and aroma of the tea, producing a soft body and a lingering sweetness on the tongue. IBUKI describes the result as layered with umami and sweetness.[1],[2]
Name Origin. According to IBUKI's website, NIROKU is named after tea producer Jiroku Muramatsu, described as the first to produce Benifuuki, a now-major black tea variety, and called the pioneer of domestically produced black tea in Japan. The same website also describes the tea as made from 'Izumi' leaves by Matsumura Jiroku, characterized as the originator of modern Japanese black tea with 68 years of experience in the tea ceremony.[3]
