Production Philosophy
Sparkling Tea LYSERØD is one of Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company's non-alcoholic (0% ALC) variants, positioned by the producer as an alcohol-free alternative to a rosé wine. The company, founded in Copenhagen in 2017 by Bo Sten Hansen and Jacob Kocemba, builds its sparkling teas from blends of organic teas spanning black, green, white and oolong varieties. The producer characterises LYSERØD as the dry member of its non-alcoholic range, set against the floral BLÅ and the citrusy LYSEGRØN.[1]
Composition & Vinification
Per the producer, Sparkling Tea LYSERØD is made with green tea (23% Oolong), herbal (22% Hibiscus), white tea (16% Silver Needle), black tea leaves, grape juice, lemon juice, natural aromas, CO2, citric acid and lactic acid, all organic.[1]
Happy Valley Oolong (23%) — Nutty, Fruity Core. The oolong is Happy Valley Oolong from the Happy Valley estate in Darjeeling, grown at approximately 2,100 m above sea level, and is organic. According to the producer it combines typical oolong taste characteristics with the muscatel notes of a Darjeeling, giving a nutty and fruity taste.[1]
Hibiscus (22%) — Herbal Tartness and Colour. Hibiscus makes up 22% of the blend as the herbal component, contributing to the dry profile and its hints alongside blackberries on the palate.[1]
Silver Needle White Tea (16%) — Smooth Floral Balance. The Silver Needle white tea is grown in the mountains of Guangxi Province, southern China, at approximately 1,000 m above sea level. The producer states it is hand-picked and harvested before the leaves fully open, with young buds still covered by fine white hairs, and produces a bright clear apricot-coloured liquor with floral aromas and a smooth, mellow, lightly sweet floral aftertaste. In the blend it lends smoothness that balances the dry structure.[1]
